Scotland 2018
This year we're planning to paddle the small Isles (ie Eigg and Rum) weather permitting.

Floating Pennywort
In 2017 we got involved in the fight to eradicate the nasty invasive weed, Floating Pennywort from the upper Cam. This totally clogged the river, from side to side.
If you see it on your rivers... don't delay. It grows frighteningly fast, so pull it out and put the strands somewhere dry to die.
More information about how to do it here

Loch Nevis
The weather quite rapidly deteriorated .. After a short paddle from Glenuig Inn to camp at Invermoidart, we headed north to Morar. To reduce the exposure we decided to portage into Loch Morar, and paddle up to Tarbet, then portage over into Loch Nevis. It was a blustery and wet few days, with a rather scraggy campsite towards the tip of Loch Nevis
Unfortunately in the change of plan we'd skipped the restocking in the coop in Mallaig, so by the time we could paddle out to Inverie we were getting a bit short of food ... But luckily we'd caught a few mackerel at Tarbert.

Scotland 2017
This year, unusually, we decided to brave the midges and go to scotland in July... do a bit of sea kayaking, the spend a week in a cottage introducing the grandchildren to the joys of scotland.
As we arrived at Glenuig, with our fairly new novacraft canoe on the roof, and the Feathercraft K2 sea kayak inside the car, the view over to the small isles was glorious

River Thames
Spent a blissful couple of days canoeing down the upper Thames from Lechlade to Eynsham in "Mary", our homemade wooden canoe.

Bus and Train
Alsa busses are a great way to get around Andalucia. They're cheap, and they seem to go everywhere. No problem taking bikes, so long as you take the front wheel off, turn the handlebars and wrap them up. You also need a 5Euro ticket for them as outsize luggage.
Once compacted down to 120cm x90 our bikes were free on Renfe high speed trains, but slightly worryingly, on some of the trains there was nowhere sensible to put them, so we were somewhat relying on the kindness of the staff not to make trouble.
