Our trip to Scotland started badly, when a week before we were due to leave, our car's engine blew up.
We hastily hired a van from Enterprise.

This is the blog for Tom and Anne's kayak journeys, mostly in Scotland, sprinkled with a bit of mountain biking. The blog starts in 2009, when we spent a month kayaking up the NW Scottish coast from Gigha (ie level with Glascow) to Ullapool.
We have both spent most of our careers as engineers, and love exploring wild and remote places in a sustainable way, often brewing our own equipment. On the sea we usually use "Charles" a Feathercraft K2. We also have a canoe. In the earlier posts this was a very sea-worthy home made wooden open canoe. In 2017 we replaced it with a rather lighter Novacraft made from Tuffstuf. We live in Cambridge UK
